Hi everyone! My name is Ramiah Dogan and I am a rising senior at Furman. I am from right here in Greenville, SC. I am a Health Science major on the Physician Assistant track! At Furman, I am a Pathways peer mentor and a part of Delight Ministries, our on-campus women's bible study. I am SO thrilled to be traveling to Greece with these amazing people!
I chose to participate in this MayX because when I first heard about the theme “Know Thyself,” something in me lit up! I’m the kind of person who feels things deeply and thinks even deeper (I’ve always been a sentimental person). So the idea of taking time to step away from my normal routine and actually reflect on who I am felt like exactly what I needed. Life moves fast being a student trying to balance everything. But I was very excited that this program gives us the space to slow down, breathe, and get clear on the big questions of Who am I really? while also being in a place that is so beautiful and rich in history. I don’t expect to have all the answers by the end, but I’m definitely ready and excited about reconnecting with myself, learning through new experiences, and hopefully coming back with a better understanding of who I’m becoming. The Cup activity: The class (and leaders) were given an assignment to put several things in the cup that help describe our identities, and then to bring that cup to class on the first day, and use it to introduce ourselves. In my cup, I included...
1) A mini Jesus- My faith is something that is extremely important to me. Having my faith and a relationship with Jesus is what carries me throughout life. I carry my mini Jesus with me at all times wherever I go.
2) My Disney pin! I LOVE Disney and everything about it, it's a place where magic exists and you never have to grow up (no matter how old you are) it brings out that child-like joy in everyone!
3) Family picture - my family is my everything and they mean the world to me. They are the reason I am who I am today, and I will be forever thankful for them!
I am so excited to take on this new journey and share it with you guys along the way because "Adventure is out there!"
